BACKGROUND: Jacques is a mercenary, newly recruited into the 12th Unit of the Southern Frontier Defense Force, a fancy name that basically means it's 12th on the list of mercenary teams hired by the Kingdom of Harmonia. He was recruited on the spot by the captain, Geddoe, who found him 'out in the regions,' according to the team's clerk and accountant, Ace. His involvement in this team later leads to him being part of the force that both stops Harmonia and saves the world.

In his travels with the defense force, Jacques has seen all kinds of people and places, from the Lizard clan and the Zexen Knights to the demonic Black Knight Yuber and the masked Bishop Luc himself. And yet despite all the different experiences he's had, he still manages to keep a relatively expressionless face and quietly go on as if, really, he's only along for the ride. despite his apparent lack of emotion, he is a very kind and caring individual, willing to help when he can without expecting any recognition for it, and easily becomes attached to people.

Jacques is a strange person, never speaking unless he feels a need to, with a fondness for children and dogs and a preference for sleeping in trees. He's very honest to the point of being blunt at times, and is easy to get on your side in an argument, especially if you're a kid. He's also socially awkward and uninterested in romance, as well as having zero tolerance for alcohol. In short, he's a simple guy, one who, to some people, might even be a bit childish at times.
